Background:
Our family have owned shops since 1925 when my great great grandfather William Caston opened our first shop (pic 1) in Station Road Brixton and hence our company name to this day is still Station Road Furniture Stores Ltd. Since these early beginings we have seen many changes not least of all when our shop was damaged during the famous Brixton riots of 1981(pic 4) when we had to board up our shops to avoid further damage.

The original shop was actually 3 shops side by side which was later converted into one big shop (pic2). In those days we also sold carpets although our main business has always been beds and bedroom furniture.

In the early 1970's we rebuilt our shop in Brixton as a three storey building located under the arches of Brixton Railway Station. (pic 5 & pic 6).

We have always made our own deliveries and to this day assemble the bed and take away the old one as part of our free service.

We moved to Crawley in November 2003. We also opened Furniture World in Hythe, Kent in 1995.
